Mushrooms, Remodels, and a little R & R.

The past several months have been entirely crazy but fun filled. What have we been up to? Well, besides canning our garden vegetables, gardening, working at the farmer's market, participating in barbecue competitions, and catering parties we have also been learning how to grow mushrooms, remodeling our home, and we recently got to go camping too. I hope to get back to the blog world now that things are settling down. Here are a few shots of our recent happenings.

  1. I've always wanted to try mushrooms. Did you find it worth your while?

  2. Ribbit, we purchased a mushroom kit. They don't produce very much but I just wanted to go small until I do more research on growing them outdoors. They were very delicious! I'm going to go for the mushroom plugs next spring as they seem to be more cost effective. Mushroom growing appears to be a worthwhile and fun venture : )

  4. First time seeing fungi growing on a garden blog! I have read into growing mushrooms but have yet to try it. I think you can keep them growing if I recall correctly. The spent log will colonize in new growing medium I think.

  6. Dan, you are supposed to get a continuing crop but it's not happening so far. I think I will try innoculating logs this next spring and see if I have any luck with that.
